Third International Conference: "Regional Protection and Management of Environmental Risks"
Gressoney, Aosta Valley, Italy, January 19‐22, 2009 

Aim of the conference: The aim of the Third FIMA Conference is to give a unique opportunity to focus on the 
state of the art of mathematical modelling and applications to Environmental Resources and Risks Management 
of which the economic, industrial and social aspects will be thoroughly investigated. 
 
Key Topics: Environmental resources management, High risk scenarios and extreme events management strategies, Disaster 
recovery planning, Risk assessment and reduction, Critical infrastructures protection, Modeling landslides, Avalanches: numerical 
simulations, Seasonal meteorological forecast, Acid rains and threat to forestry, Protection of cultural heritage from air pollution, 
Adoption of environment preserving technologies via innovative financial instruments, Finance and insurance in town and regional 
planning, Modeling international markets of CO2 emission permits, Pricing environmental risk derivatives, Emergency management 
systems design and optimization, Territorial planning, Geographical information systems and optimization. 
 
Call for Papers: Participants are invited to submit to infoconf at fimaonline.it an abstract of 300 words in text format without 
figures or formulas, specifying title, authors (affiliation and email, speaker as first author, one talk a speaker), three keywords and a 
maximum of five references. 
 
Venue: The conference will be hosted in the Gressoney Sporthaus Auditorium at Gressoney Saint Jean, ITALY
 
Language: The official language of the Conference is English.
