About the workshop

Performing the right maintenance activities is crucial for the safety,
reliability, availability, and profitability of a large range of
operations and activities; performing the right maintenance activities is
also more and more widely recognized as important for the sustainability
of resources. The workshop aims to gather people from different fields
within academia and industry to discuss the state-of-the-art and future
challenges and possibilities in modelling and solving these problems. We
hope that stimulating discussions across subject boundaries will enrich us
all.

The organizers are looking for presentations that use or describe
operations research based modeling and analysis approaches to maintenance
problems. Theory and applications, cases, as well as tutorials on
state-of-the-art practice and methods, are all welcome.

The talks will be given in English. The workshop is organized and partly
sponsored by GMMC (Gothenburg Mathematical Modeling Centre) which is a
research centre placed at the Department of Mathematical Sciences
(Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg) and FCC (Fraunhofer-Chalmers
Centre for Industrial Mathematics); it is a strategic research centre
funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.

Plenary speakers

We have confirmed the following plenary speakers:

- Prof. Rommert Dekker, Econometric Institute, Erasmus University, Rotterdam;

- Prof. Andrew Jardine, Centre for Maintenance Optimization and
Reliability Engineering, University of Toronto

Publication

Following the Workshop a special issue of Annals of Operations Research
will be edited and published by Springer-Verlag, with tentative
publication date December 2010.
