Lecturer in Operational Research
University of Southampton - School of Mathematics

£34,745 -£44,016 per annum

The School of Mathematics is seeking to consolidate and develop its
research strength in the area of Operational Research.  Applications
are invited for the post of Lecturer in Operational Research.

You should have a research background in any area of Operational
Research.  You should either have a PhD, or have a reasonable
expectation of such an award in the near future, and should be able to
demonstrate a high-quality research track record with plans for future
research activity.  Teaching duties may involve a variety of
Operational Research-related topics, to be delivered to both an
undergraduate (BSc/MMath) audience and to postgraduate students who
are enrolled on the MScs in Operational Research, and Operational
Research and Finance.

Experience of teaching, assessment of students and dissertation
project supervision is desirable.  Duties, as determined by the Head
of the School of Mathematics, will include:  conducting research at
international level in Operational Research; applying for externally
funded research grants; and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate
students including the supervision of research students.  As part of
the role, you will also be expected to support the effective
management and administration within the School of Mathematics.

The position is available from 1 September 2011. Interviews are
expected to be held in May or June 2011.  As part of the interview
process, candidates will be invited to give a research presentation.
