SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS: CST2014 Special Session on Global Optimization

Black-Box Global Optimization: Fast Algorithms and Engineering Applications
(special session at the CST2014: The Twelfth International Conference on Computational Structures Technology)
2-5 September 2014
Hotel Royal Continental, Naples, Italy
http://www.civil-comp.com/conf/cstect2014/cst2014-s23.htm

The aim of this session is to create a multidisciplinary discussion platform focused on new theoretical, computational and applied results in solving black-box multiextremal optimization problems. In these problems, frequently encountered in engineering design, the objective function and constraints (if any) are multidimensional functions with unknown analytical representations often evaluated by performing computationally expensive simulations. Researchers from both theoretical and applied sciences are welcome to present their recent developments concerning this important class of optimization problems. To encourage young researchers to attend these conferences a 1000 Euro Young (35 years or younger) Researcher Best Paper Prize will be awarded to the best paper presented at the conferences.

The conference venue is close to both the seaside and city center, the historical area of Naples, the Piazza del Plebiscito, the famous Teatro San Carlo and the harbor, which leads to the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts, as well as to the islands of Capri and Ischia. The Hotel is situated 9.5km from Naples Airport.

The conference has a strict "no paper - no podium" rule (i.e., conference presentations can only be made if they have a corresponding accepted paper in the proceedings). One-page abstracts of proposed papers should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than the abstract submission date (December 5, 2013). Authors will be notified of acceptance by the conference editors. Final acceptance will be based upon review of the full length paper which must be received before the full paper deadline. Authors may submit extended and improved versions of their presented papers for review and possible publication in the conference special issues of Computers & Structures (CAS) (Elsevier) or Advances in Engineering Software (ADES) (Elsevier).

Further details can be found at:http://www.civil-comp.com/conf/cstect2014/cst2014-s23.htm
