[Opt-Net] Second Call: IOS Prizes Due July 15!

Dear Colleagues:

This is a reminder that the deadline for the INFORMS Optimization Society
awards is approaching fast. Nominations for each one of the *four prizes* is
due by *July 15**, 2016*.  Note that self-nominations are welcome. All
nominations
and inquiries should be sent directly via email to the chair of the
corresponding prize committee.

*Khachiyan Prize*

   - Awarded for outstanding life-time contributions to the field of
      optimization by an individual or team.
      - *Committee Chair*: Tamas Terlaky (E-mail: terlaky at lehigh.edu)
      - *Committee members*: Philip Gill, Dorit Hochbaum and Werner Roemisch

*Farkas-Prize*

   - Awarded to a mid-career researcher for outstanding contributions to
      the field of optimization, over the course of their career.
      - The contribution may be a published paper, a submitted and accepted
      paper, a series of papers, a book, a monograph, or software.
      - Such contributions could include papers (published or submitted and
      accepted), books, monographs, and software.
      - The awardee will be within 25 years of their terminal degree
as of January
      1 of the year of the award. The prize serves as an esteemed
      recognition of colleagues in the middle of their career.
      - *Committee Chair*: Ariela Sofer (E-mail: asofer at gmu.edu)
      - *Committee Members:* Ignacio Gorssman, Ted Ralphs, Alex Shapiro

*Young-Researchers*

   - Awarded to one or more young researcher(s) for an outstanding paper in
      optimization that is submitted to and accepted, or published in
a refereed
      professional journal.
      - The paper must be published in, or submitted to and accepted by, a
      refereed professional journal within the four calendar years
preceding the
      year of the award.
      - All authors must have been awarded their terminal degree within
      eight calendar years preceding the year of award.
      - *Committee Chair: *Sam Burer (E-mail: samuel-burer at uiowa.edu)
      - *Committee Members:* Jon Lee, Andrew Schaeffer, Cole Smith

*Student-Paper-Prize*

   - Awarded to one or more student(s) for an outstanding paper in
      optimization that is submitted to and received or published in a refereed
      professional journal within three calendar years preceding the
year of the
      award.
      - Every nominee/applicant must be a student on the first of January
      of the year of the award.
      - Any coauthor(s) not nominated for the award should send a letter
      indicating that the majority of the nominated work was performed by the
      nominee(s).
      - *Committee Chair: *Jim Luedtke (E-mail: jrluedt1 at wisc.edu)
      - *Committee Members*: Guzin Bayraksan, Shiqian Ma, and Mohit
      Tawarmalani
