The Optimization, Robotics and Biomechanics research group at the Institute of Computer Engineering, Heidelberg University has two immediate openings for PostDoc positions in the context of two European projects.

The aims of the projects are

Project 1 (H2020 Project SPEXOR): to deliver novel and effective spinal exoskeletons that will prevent low-back pain in able bodied workers and support workers with low-back pain who are reintegrating in the vocational setting. (www.spexor.eu)

Project 2 (EIT Health / AGILIS): to deliver an innovative implanted stimulation device for tetraplegic patients that provides functional grasping without a third person and thus will increase the autonomy of these persons.

In both projects, our work packages focus on modeling, simulation and optimization for human movement prediction and optimization-based control. We seek candidates who have written an excellent PhD thesis in this area and who are interested to apply their knowledge in an interdisciplinary team. They should show broad interests in robotics and/or medical technology and be able to bridge the different research areas of the projects. In the ideal case they have already worked in the fields of exoskeletons or functional electrical stimulation, respectively.

Payment is according to the wage agreement of the civil service TV-L 100% of salary level E13. Appointment is for 12 or 18 months with possible extensions.

Heidelberg University strives to achieve gender balance at all levels of employment. We therefore particularly encourage female candidates to apply for this position. With appropriate qualifications, applications from persons with handicaps will be treated with preference.
