The Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa offers a postdoctoral ("assegno di ricerca") position on the project "Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Complex Systems", as part of the National Centre on HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing of the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The position is fully funded for one year (around 24000 Euro gross), but extension to one further year can be considered upon mutual interest.

The postdoc is expected to collaborate with the project leads in performing research on either: (1) algorithms for complex network analysis and simulation from the numerical linear algebra point of view, especially in the area of metrics based on Markov chains, or (2) algorithms for large-scale optimization with multiple nested form of structure, with particular emphasis on parallel decomposition approaches, using the SMS++ software framework (https://gitlab.com/smspp/smspp-project).

The call is open to all candidates with a master's degree in the areas of numerical analysis, optimization and computer science (Italian scientific sectors MAT/08, MAT/09, INF/01); it is not necessary to have completed one's PhD studies and hold a doctoral title at the time of application, although the position is intended as a full-time one and therefore for PhD students completion should be imminent.

The call is open until December 28.
