Dear community,

For our upcoming working group meeting PMO110 in March 2026 about
*PMO110 – High Performance Computing
*we cordially invite you to participate and exchange about this hot
topic. Where do we stand realistically, where lie the greatest potentials?

Dates: March 12 & 13, 2026
Location: physics center Bad Honnef
Registration: https://www.redseat.de/pmo110/
<https://www.redseat.de/pmo110/>

So far we have 4 GPU, 3 quantum and 2 parallel computing talks (incl few
that are tentatively). Confirmed speakers:

·*GPU-accelerated heuristics for production planning and scheduling
Ambros Gleixner & Alexander Hoen (HTW Berlin)*

·*From Large Scale Industrial Optimization to Quantum-Ready Models:
Hybrid Solver Pipelines and Practical Benchmarks
Thomas Hußlein (OptWare GmbH)*

·*GPU-Accelerated Heuristics for General-Purpose Mixed-Integer Programs.
Nils Christian Kempke (Zuse Institute Berlin)*

·*Experiences in Super Computers, GPUs, and Quantum Computing*
*Thorsten Koch (Zuse Institute Berlin)*

·*Computational Insights into Solving Optimization Instance Sets with
MIP Solvers on Multi-Core Hardware
Willi Leinen (Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg)*

·*Energy system modeling with PIPS-IPM++ on HPCs
Manuel Wetzel *

/Others – subject to approval/

Tackling large scale optimization problems with real-world big data is
highly demanded while due to costs or complexity, many problems are
still solved on standard computing clusters. What’s in it for your
problems with the latest advancements of GPUs? Should we invest in more
high-end supercomputers for parallel processing? When will quantum
computing play a bigger role for practical applications?
In our upcoming meeting, we want to exchange about these approaches
applied to real-world mathematical optimizationproblems. If you are
interested to exchange or present about computational studies, results
and findings, now is time to register.

We are looking forward to inspiring presentations, exchanging ideas and
networking opportunities. If you are interested to give a presentation,
please, contact one of the organizers.

Kind regards,

Jens Schulz, Josef Kallrath, Julia Kallrath
and Thorsten Koch (ZIB)
