The Special Interest Group in Optimization (SIGOPT) was created in 1993 with the purpose of encouraging cooperation and communication between its members to enrich the scientific network of mathematical optimization. In this regard, a series of conferences has been established in order to conglomerate all the different aspects of mathematical optimization within one event of familiar atmosphere, and it is our pleasure to announce the 5th SIGOPT conference to be held during<br />

<span style="white-space:pre"> March 15 - 17, 2022, in Cottbus, Germany.</span><br />
<br />
The conference is scheduled to take place at the Zentralcampus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). Participants are invited to arrive in Cottbus on Monday, March 14, to join the welcome reception at the Lindner Congress Hotel in the<br />

Aims and Scopes<br />
<br />
The SIGOPT conference covers theory and practice in all branches of mathematical optimization, e.g., Linear Optimization, Discrete and Combinatorial Optimization, Mixed-Integer Optimization, Nonlinear Optimization, Nonsmooth Optimization and Variational Analysis,<br />
Multiobjective and Set-Valued Optimization, Optimal Control and Infinite-Dimensional Optimization, Machine Learning, or Application of Optimization in Real-World Problems. The SIGOPT promotes the collaboration of all the different branches of mathematical optimization, so<br />
talks combining theory or methods from different topics are especially welcome. Young researchers are particularly encouraged to submit abstract proposals.<br />

Social Activities<br />
<br />
We plan to organize a guided tour through the city of Cottbus famous for its clothiers and miners in the past and nowadays one of Germany's strongholds of structural change. Furthermore, we arranged a joint conference dinner in the popular restaurant Mangold in Cottbus which is settled within an ancient distillery.<br />

Submission of Abstracts and Invited Sessions<br />
<br />
Abstracts have to be submitted in LaTeX and should not exceed 1500 characters while being free of references.<br />
We offer the possibility to organize invited sessions. Therefore, a suitable session title, a willing chairperson, and three to four abstracts respecting the above guidelines have to be provided.<br />

The conference takes place at the Zentrales Hörsaalgebäude of the BTU on the main campus in Cottbus.<br />

Each participant is kindly asked to organize his or her accommodation individually. A limited number of rooms is available in the Lindner Congress Hotel (75.00 EUR / 87.00 EUR per night in a single / double room, including breakfast), which is located within a 5-minute walking distance to the venue. In order to access this contingent, please contact the hotel until January 14, 2022, using the keyword SIG_OPT2022.<br />

We offer a limited number of day care spots at a BTU Kindergarten in order to allow parents of young children to attend the conference without too many limitations. If you are interested in this offer, contact the conference organizers via email until January 16, 2022.<br />
<br />
Participants have to pay a conference fee of 120.00 EUR, which includes the conference dinner. An additional spouse ticket can be purchased for 60.00 EUR.<br />

Covid-19<br />
<br />
Only vaccinated people can join the conference. In accordance with current regulations of the state of Brandenburg and the University, we can enjoy the conference without wearing masks or social distancing. For this, we keep the number of people on site (participants and employees) below 100. During registration, proper vaccination has to be acknowledged by ticking a check box. Your vaccination records will be verified upon check-in at the conference desk. So do not forget to bring a valid documentation, otherwise entry will be denied without a refund of the conference fee.<br />
