At the Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Johannes Kepler
University Linz, Austria, a
- PhD position -
is available. The starting date of this position is October 1st, 2013.
The contract is given for 1 year and can be extended up to 3 years after
a successful evaluation at the
end of the first year.
The PhD position is associated with the project ''Numerical methods for
disjunctive programming'' funded by the Austrian Science Funds (FWF)
under the grant P26132-N25.
We are looking for a Ph.D. student with an above-average degree in
mathematics or a related area (master's degree or equivalent, e.g.
diploma), who has a good knowledge in Nonlinear Optimization. The
successful candidate will develop and implement algorithms in order to
solve optimization problems with a special type of constraints.
Therefore, besides a strong mathematical background some programming
skills (MATLAB, C++) are desired.
