fleet management solutions.

Fleetmatics has an immediate need for a Research Engineer to facilitate the
design and development of our award winning web application suite. This
role will be responsible for the in-house research and development of both
internal and external service offerings that support Fleetmatics customers
and integration partners. A strong technical background is expected, and
successful applicants will also exhibit leadership or organizational
strengths.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in computer science or equivalent education;
1+ year’s scientific research experience related to the field of Computer
Science, Data Analytics or Operations Research;
2+ Years Programming experience with C++ with exposure to the Boost C++
library;
Strong computer science fundamentals (Algorithms and Data Structures);
Familiar with Microsoft and Unix/Linux environments;
Excellent understanding of algorithm design, implementation and testing.
Scientific capabilities, capability of reading an advanced scientific paper
on heuristic optimization algorithm and to extract the main ideas.
Excellent communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical
issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical).
Results oriented with a strong / demonstrated track record of successful
delivery.
Fluent in English.

Essential Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of heuristic as well as exact algorithms and data
structures for large scale combinatorial optimization problems.
Experience with common design patterns in distributed systems (e.g. REST,
SOA, SaaS, web applications).
Experience of distributed caching and multi-threading.

Desired Qualifications:
PhD in Computer Science, Data Analytics or Operations Research.
Mathematical modelling skills and experience in using high level modeling
tools and languages (ampl, gams, pyomo, or similar).
Experience with Big-Data frameworks and tools.
Experience with an Agile development methodology, preferably Scrum.
Broad technical knowledge, ranging from applications to backend systems.
Hands on experience with many technologies.​
