[Opt-Net] Lecturer / Teaching Fellow

Due to the recent award of a prestigious fellowship, Southampton
Mathematical Sciences and Southampton Business School have an opening
for one joint appointment for the post of Lecturer or Teaching Fellow
in Operational Research/Management Science (OR/MS).

The appointment will be for a fixed duration of 5 years commencing on
1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will also be a member of CORMSIS, the Centre for Operational
Research, Management Science and Information Systems
(http://www.southampton.ac.uk/cormsis/index.page), that brings
together the Operational Research Group in Mathematical Sciences and
the Department of Decision, Analytics and Risk in the Southampton
Business School.  CORMSIS is one of the largest OR/MS/IS groups in the
UK, covering the whole spectrum of current OR/MS/IS activity from
theoretical mathematical developments to problem structuring and
knowledge management.

You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and
experience in Operational Research / Management Science or a related
discipline.  For either of the roles you will have skills and
experience that will enable you to contribute significantly to the
teaching provision of Mathematical Sciences & Southampton Business
School, involving high quality delivery, and a track record of
successful innovation in teaching.

At Lecturer level, you will be able to demonstrate a high-quality
research track record with plans for future research activity, and you
are expected to have research expertise or experience closely aligned
to CORMSIS

Dutie, as determined by the Heads of the Academic Units will include
teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervision of
MSc projects.  As part of the role, you will also be expected to
support the effective management and administration within the two
Academic Units.

We particularly welcome applicants with a strong analytical
background.  Computational skills would be advantageous.

At Lecturer level, you will be able to demonstrate a high-quality
research track record with plans for future research activity, and you
are expected to have research expertise or experience closely aligned
to CORMSIS

Duties, as determined by the Heads of the Academic Units will include
teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervision of
MSc projects.  As part of the role, you will also be expected to
support the effective management and administration within the two
Academic Units.

We particularly welcome applicants with a strong analytical
background.  Computational skills would be advantageous.

Interviews will be held in June 2017.  As part of the interview
process, you will be invited to give a presentation which demonstrates
your research profile (Lecturers only) and provide a short teaching
focussed lecture.
